Confirmations are coming up and I needed a card for a young man. This was truly a challenge for me and I wasn’t quite sure where to start. When I hit a mental roadblock like that, I just grab some scraps and start stamping.

I like to make 3×3″ cards to get the creative juices flowing so after I stamped on a few scraps, I started playing around with them to see what I could come up with. The reason I went with River Rock as my card base is because my scrap pile for River Rock is HUGE! Of course, Very Vanilla is a natural with River Rock. Then, to give my card some contrast, I added corners of Basic Gray. But then the corners made the card look sort of harsh, so I needed to tone them down a bit, so I started playing with scraps of ribbon. This velvet ribbon from Ribbon Originals Sherbet collection was the perfect touch. Now, I just needed to incorporate all these ideas into a full-sized card.

Here is my full-sized card. Isn’t it gorgeous and still pretty guy-like?? I never believed you could use velvet ribbon on a card and still call it manly . . . but I think I succeeded in doing just that!! My husband loved it so that’s a great thumbs up for me!Here are all the supplies I used making these cards:Stamps: Refuge and Strength, Baroque Motifs, Blessings sentiment from EK Success Paper: Basic Gray, River Rock, Very Vanilla Ink: River Rock, Basic Gray Accessories: Sherbet Ribbon Originals, Dimensionals
