I needed to come up with a birthday card this weekend for my daughter who turned 17. She has always been enchanted by the Far East so I decided to use Eastern Blooms. I used the Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge as my starting point and was able to put this card together in record time!

The one thing that was holding my up, however, was my ribbon treatment. The coordinating Poppy Parade Ribbon seemed too bulky and after fussing around with it, I decided to cut it in half and that led me to discover how easy it was to fringe it . .  and the delicate look I was able to achieve using this technique worked out perfectly on my card!

In addition to the pretty fringe on the ribbon, I really like the embossing on the Top Note piece. I used the Finial Press Embossing Folder to achieve that look. The background paper is out of the 6×6 Hostess Level One In Color Paper Pack. The stamp was colored with markers and then stamped onto my paper. I colored over the center of the flowers with the Poppy Parade marker after it was already stamped to accentuate the flowers . . . otherwise they looked a tad faded. The sentiment is from the Level One Hostess set called Silhouette Sentiments. To give the sentiment just a tiny bit of a lift . . . I doubled up Mini Glue Dots. It’s a very subtle look that seemed to really work with the overall feel of this card.

The inside of the card is very simple . . . I almost always keep it that way. I used a sentiment from On Your Birthday and added a strip of coordinating designer paper. If I hadn’t been in such a hurry to finish up the card . . . I would have stamped another branch of flowers here . . . but my schedule did not allow! We were going to be eating cake in two minutes!! lol! (Nothing like waiting until the VERY last minute!)
