I decided to create a video to show you how to use shims with your Stampin’ Up! Delicate Doilies die. Ever since I posted this Christmas Ornament HERE, I’ve been getting questions about using the Delicate Doilies Die and especially about my preference for using card stock vellum shims. So, here it is . . . a video that gives you all the shim shine on using this die.
Then, since I had a whole pile of Delicate Doilies just sitting around on my work station, I decided to make a really quick Autumn card to show off one of the doilies. I also wanted to use the 3 1/2″ Scalloped Tulle Ribbon found on page 4 of the Holiday Mini. Isn’t it pretty? I especially love how it looks over the textured background.
Here’s another view of the elements I used on this card. I love the pop of red behind the “A” and the button with the linen thread. Fun little details that just “make it” if you know what I mean!
Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by Stamping to Share!

I have not been pleased with this die. I tried it with a cardstock shim, but it was so hard to get thru my machine that I was afraid that I would strip out the gears/or tear up the bearings in my big shot. So, the die is just sitting in my storage box. Maybe I will try it once more with vellum. Will SU replace a broken Big Shot if the die causes something like this to happen since you are following instructions for using shims?
Thanks Kay! I LOVE this die, but never use it because I can never get it to cut properly. I'm running to my stamp room now to give this a try, thanks for sharing!!!
Thank you thank you for this information..I was very frustrated with working with this die but used the shims as mentioned and it WORKED….GLORY BE! THANK YOU AGAIN Marie from Canada
