And, I couldn’t resist showing you some of the amazing mushroom/fungi pics I took over the weekend on our walk to the chapel on the lake at St. John’s University. I’ve always been a big fan of mushrooms. When I eat fresh morels in the Springtime, I feel like I’ve died and gone to heaven. Truly food for the gods! And, I think they are beautiful so I just HAVE to share some of my favorite pictures of them. (My middle child thinks I’m nuts . . . she hates the taste and the looks and cannot figure out how I can be impressed by a mushroom! lol!)
Look at the color in this tree fungi! As beautiful as this is in the picture, it was even more gorgeous in real life! This was one of my favorite finds on Saturday.
Loved this one, too . . . so perfectly formed!
Definitely “gross” according to Kari! I have to say, I was not inclined to touch these two. They were slimy!! At first, I wasn’t even sure if it was a mushroom, but I have to admit, I was relieved to discover it truly was. Hate to imagine what it otherwise might have been! lol!
These three had kind of frilly edges and they popped out so nice and clean! Very pretty!!
This was definitely the biggest mushroom of the day . . . about the size of a dessert plate . . . maybe five inches across or so. There were several that we came across in this area, but this one was the least damaged. They almost looked like space ships.
Teeny tiny bright orange ones. Even though they were small, they were always easy to spot as you could see them from quite a ways off.
How about a mushroom with “sprinkles” on top? I thought this red one was quite impressive.
This floating bridge really is as tippy as it looks. I was getting up close and personal with the lily pads, too!
Here are the hikers who joined me on Saturday . . . my daughter Karel, my daughter Kari and my husband Steve. Thanks for putting up with all my mushroom pictures. I have a lot more, too! It was really hard to decide which ones to show as I liked them all so much!! Have a great day and thank you so much for stopping by!
